Frequently Asked Questions About Helix Earrings

Do Helix piercings require special jewellery?

Yes, when getting a helix piercing, it’s important to use jewellery specifically designed for cartilage piercings. Choosing high-quality pieces, like those available at Smiley Dogg, is highly recommended. Our jewellery is crafted from premium materials such as surgical steel and titanium, helping to reduce irritation and promote a smoother healing process for helix piercings.

Does a Helix piercing hurt?

The helix piercing is usually described as moderately painful, as it goes through a firm area of cartilage. The sensation is typically a quick pinch followed by slight pressure. At Smiley Dogg, we use advanced techniques to ensure the process is as comfortable as possible, giving you a professionally performed and perfectly placed piercing.

What should you avoid with Helix piercings?

It is important to avoid touching helix piercings with dirty hands. It is also not recommended to twist the jewellery or sleep on the pierced ear. You should keep the same piece throughout the entire healing process. If it is swimming-pool or sauna season, it is best to avoid them during the first two weeks.

Can I sleep with a Helix piercing?

During the first months, it is recommended not to sleep on the ear where you have the helix piercing. Constant pressure can cause inflammation and delay healing. Ideally, you should sleep on the opposite side until the piercing is fully healed.
